Israeli Defense Minister Orders Probe After Claims of Neglect at Rambam Hospital ICU

A serious allegation has emerged from Rambam Hospital in Haifa, where family members of a wounded Israeli soldier claim neglect and inappropriate behavior by hospital staff. Yehoshua Shani, father of the late Captain Uri Shani and uncle to the injured soldier Eitan Shani, who is currently hospitalized at Rambam after being wounded in Lebanon, reported that family members were barred from seeing Eitan in the intensive care unit. He further alleged that four hospital staff members were distracted by TikTok videos while Eitan was desperately asking for water.

Following these claims, Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz ordered an urgent investigation into the conduct of Rambam Hospital employees toward injured IDF soldiers and their families. Katz emphasized that if the allegations prove true, strict measures will be taken against those responsible. He described the situation as a severe scandal that should concern every Israeli citizen, condemning any mistreatment of soldiers risking their lives for national security.

Rambam Hospital responded by affirming its commitment to providing high-quality care to all patients, especially IDF soldiers, noting that hundreds of wounded soldiers have been treated there recently. The hospital stated it takes all complaints seriously and is investigating the claims thoroughly.
