Rambam Hospital Denies Claims of Neglect Toward Wounded Soldier Amid Family Complaints

A dispute has emerged between the family of a soldier severely wounded in Lebanon and Rambam Medical Center in Haifa, with Defense Minister Israel Katz intervening. The soldier was admitted to Rambam along with three other wounded fighters, receiving intensive care including ventilation. His brother posted on Instagram alleging neglect, describing a night when Arabic-speaking staff locked families out of the ward, leaving four seriously injured soldiers alone behind locked doors. He claimed the soldier was mistreated, including being roughly handled and denied water.

Following these allegations, the family decided to transfer the soldier to Sheba Medical Center. The soldier remains in serious condition with burns but has been weaned off ventilation thanks to Rambam's care. Defense Minister Katz ordered the IDF to investigate the claims of improper conduct by Rambam staff, emphasizing that wounded soldiers deserve respectful and dedicated treatment. National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir also condemned the alleged behavior, calling for a thorough and transparent investigation, including whether there was any nationalist bias.

Rambam Medical Center responded firmly, rejecting the accusations of inappropriate treatment after an internal inquiry. The hospital stressed its commitment to providing high-quality care to all patients, especially IDF soldiers, noting that it has treated hundreds of wounded soldiers during recent conflicts with professionalism and dedication.
