Defense Minister Orders Probe Into Treatment of Wounded Soldiers at Rambam Hospital

Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz has ordered an urgent investigation into allegations raised by bereaved father Yehoshua Shani regarding the treatment of his severely wounded nephew at Rambam Hospital in Haifa. Shani accused the hospital staff of harshly denying family members access to the treatment room and treating the injured soldier inappropriately. Katz emphasized that if any staff member is found to have mistreated wounded IDF soldiers, it will not be tolerated, stating, "We will demand answers, draw conclusions, and act to ensure such incidents do not recur."

Rambam Hospital responded by affirming its commitment to professional and quality care for all patients, especially IDF soldiers, noting that hundreds of wounded soldiers have been treated there in recent months, including those in critical condition. Meanwhile, MK Michal Waldiger, chair of the Labor and Welfare Committee, expressed deep concern over the reports about the care of four severely wounded soldiers from Lebanon, calling for a thorough and immediate investigation by the IDF and hospital management, and demanding clear answers and strict accountability.

The investigation will involve relevant authorities and is expected to provide findings to the Defense Minister promptly. The case highlights the sensitivity surrounding the treatment of soldiers wounded in combat and the expectations of their families for respectful and attentive medical care.
