Israeli Mothers' Council Demands Clear Protocol for IDF Wounded Treatment After Hospital Abuse Claims

The Mothers' Council, a group of bereaved and active mothers supporting Israeli soldiers, called on Sunday for a clear national protocol to treat wounded IDF soldiers in hospitals. This demand follows serious allegations from the family of an IDF soldier injured last week about mistreatment during his hospitalization at Rambam Medical Center in Haifa. The council emphasized that after nearly three years of ongoing conflict, it is unacceptable that no joint procedure exists between the Defense and Health Ministries to ensure proper care and support for injured soldiers and their families.

The family accused hospital staff of neglect and abuse, including locking family members out of the ward where four severely wounded soldiers were treated and a staff member reportedly handling the soldier roughly, causing his head to hit the bed. The soldier also allegedly experienced delayed response when requesting water. The council stressed that wounded soldiers deserve professional, prompt medical care combined with respectful and compassionate treatment, including 24/7 family presence when it does not interfere with medical care.

The council highlighted that families are integral to the soldier's recovery and resilience, not a burden, and called for a transparent, binding protocol guaranteeing appropriate treatment and support. Meanwhile, the injured soldier is expected to be transferred to Sheba Medical Center as part of planned medical care unrelated to the family's complaints.
