Israeli Defense Minister Orders Urgent Probe Into Alleged Mistreatment of Wounded Soldiers at Rambam Hospital

Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Kach formally instructed the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) to urgently and thoroughly investigate serious allegations of inappropriate behavior by staff at Rambam Hospital in Haifa towards severely wounded IDF soldiers and their families. These soldiers were injured during recent combat operations in Lebanon and are currently hospitalized at Rambam. The complaints specifically concern the treatment and attitude of the hospital staff, particularly the Arab medical team, towards the soldiers and their relatives during their hospitalization.

Minister Kach emphasized the gravity of the accusations, stating that the brave soldiers who sacrificed for Israel deserve the best medical care and respectful treatment. He ordered that the investigation be conducted in cooperation with all relevant parties and demanded that the findings be presented directly to him. Kach warned that if any staff members are found to have behaved inappropriately or severely towards the wounded soldiers, such conduct will not be tolerated or overlooked.

The probe will focus on the medical care provided, the interpersonal treatment of soldiers and their families, and any other aspects related to their hospitalization. The minister pledged to ensure accountability and implement necessary measures to prevent recurrence of such incidents. Rambam Hospital has been treating numerous soldiers wounded in the ongoing conflict since the outbreak of hostilities, many with serious injuries. The investigation follows testimonies from families and a specific account by Yehoshua Shani, who described humiliating treatment by Arab hospital staff.

Minister Kach concluded by affirming that no entity will be allowed to mistreat IDF soldiers who were wounded defending the country, and that the government will seek answers, draw conclusions, and act decisively to prevent future occurrences.
