Police Prepare to Question Eldar Dayan’s Friends in Murder Case After Body Found

Israeli police have obtained testimony from a witness who saw Eldar Dayan and his friends Omri Peretz and Maxim Braverman entering the field where Dayan’s body was later discovered. The witness reported that the three were running in the field. During questioning, Peretz denied running, leading investigators to suspect he was lying. Since that interrogation, Peretz has ceased cooperating with the police. The last joint questioning of the two friends occurred three days ago, and they are scheduled to be questioned tomorrow for the first time on suspicion of murder.

The investigation was recently transferred from the Negev regional unit to the Sharon regional unit following claims by the Negev unit that all search efforts had been exhausted. Earlier today, police officially confirmed the identification of Dayan’s body after nearly three weeks of extensive searches. Dayan had been missing since July 18, initially presumed to be in hiding after driving without a license and injuring a friend, possibly fleeing to avoid investigation.

Earlier this week, two helmets believed to have belonged to Dayan and his friends on the day of his disappearance were found, marking a significant development in the case. The police continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding Dayan’s disappearance and death.
