Friends of Eldar Dayan Suspected of Murder After Body Found Near Yarkon

On August 6, 2026, police discovered a decomposed body during a search operation near the Yarkon area, raising suspicions of a connection to the disappearance of Eldar Dayan. Dayan's friends, who allegedly threatened to kill him, are now suspected of murder. The police are currently seeking to extend their detention by 15 days, with a hearing underway at the Petah Tikva Magistrate's Court.

Dayan's mother arrived at the scene, demanding to identify the body herself, expressing hope that it was not her son. Family members described her as emotionally distraught and unable to speak. Rescue teams and police accompanied her, answering her urgent questions.

According to the investigation, Dayan had met with two friends, and a fight broke out between their group and another. During the altercation, the three attempted to flee in a vehicle, hitting five people who sustained minor injuries. The car was later abandoned at a gas station in Petah Tikva, with its license plates removed. The suspects, named Peretz and Barberman, returned to Dimona, but Dayan has been missing since.

The suspects gave conflicting accounts: one claimed they were attacked by Eritreans who chased them and smashed the car window, prompting them to abandon the vehicle and separate. The other denied involvement. Police found the fingerprints of all three suspects and blood stains inside the abandoned car, which are under forensic examination.
