Police Confirm Discovery of Eldar Dayan's Body, Two Suspects Detained

After three weeks of searching, the body of missing man Eldar Dayan was identified this morning near Road 40 in Israel. Dayan had been reported missing since July 25, 2026, following a report to the Dimona police station in the southern district. The investigation into his disappearance was transferred from Dimona police to the Sharon Central Unit in the central district after all initial search efforts were exhausted.

The body was found during extensive searches led by the Sharon Central Unit, with assistance from Petah Tikva police, Border Police fighters, and volunteers. The National Forensic Medicine Institute confirmed the identity through comprehensive forensic examinations, including DNA testing and CT scans, using advanced technologies developed since October 2025.

Two suspects, friends of Dayan, were arrested on suspicion of involvement in his disappearance and possible murder. They were brought to court today, which extended their detention by six days until August 12, 2026, as the investigation continues to examine their role in Dayan's death.
