Israeli Police Arrest Four More Suspects in Eldar Dayan's Mysterious Death Case
Weeks after the body of 23-year-old Eldar Yitzhak Dayan from Dimona was found in an open area near Road 40, Israeli police have made significant progress in the investigation into his death. The Sharon District Central Unit (YAMAR Sharon) arrested four additional suspects yesterday and today on suspicion of involvement in the violent fight that preceded Dayan's disappearance and death. These four suspects had previously been questioned at the Petah Tikva police station regarding the same altercation but were re-arrested following new evidence uncovered during the ongoing investigation. The suspects were brought before the court, where police requested to extend their detention to continue the inquiry.
Meanwhile, two of Dayan's friends, Omri Peretz and Maxim Barberman, who were with him on the night of July 25 when his car was abandoned in Petah Tikva, remain in custody. Their conflicting accounts of the events that night have deepened the mystery surrounding what truly happened. According to the investigation, the three were involved in a violent fight in the Hod Hasharon and Yarkon Park area against a group of five other youths. During the confrontation, one of Dayan's friends allegedly tried to run over the others with Dayan's car, damaging its windshield. The trio then fled to a gas station in Petah Tikva, abandoned the vehicle, and removed its license plates. Afterward, the two friends returned to Dimona by public transport, while Dayan's whereabouts became unknown.
Dayan's body was discovered weeks later in an advanced state of decomposition. In total, six suspects are currently detained: four linked to the initial fight and two suspected of direct involvement in Dayan's death. Police continue their investigation to uncover the full circumstances leading to the young man's demise.
