Israeli Court Extends Detention of Suspects Linked to Eldar Dayan Disappearance Investigation

The Petah Tikva Magistrate's Court has extended the detention of two suspects for three more days in connection with the investigation into the disappearance of Eldar Dayan. However, the ongoing inquiry is currently focused on events involving Dayan prior to his disappearance, rather than the disappearance itself. The police investigation centers on a fight that took place between Dayan, the two detained friends, and several other young men known to them. This altercation reportedly occurred in a park located between Hod Hasharon and Kfar Saba.

Additionally, the investigation involves a hit-and-run incident linked to the two suspects. Authorities say suspicions regarding their involvement have intensified. The three individuals were last seen at a convenience store at the Yona gas station near the Yarkon Junction, close to the Baptist Village.

During the court hearing, which primarily addressed the hit-and-run, police representatives stated that one person was injured in the incident and that the suspects are exercising their right to remain silent. When questioned about the strength of the evidence, the police noted that testimonies from other involved parties and additional material have been presented to the court. They indicated that other suspects have provided accounts explaining the injuries to the vehicle.

The court emphasized concerns about potential obstruction of justice, citing substantial evidence from the investigation. Given the complexity of the case and the suspects' silence, the court ordered their continued detention until August 6 and instructed the investigative unit to promptly transfer the case to the prosecution.
