Two Friends Begin Testimony in Eldar Dayan Murder Investigation in Central Israel
After days of silence and denial, Eldar Dayan's two friends, Omri David Peretz and Maxim Barberman, have started providing their accounts to investigators from the Sharon District Central Unit (YAMAR) in central Israel. This development marks a significant phase in the investigation following the discovery of Dayan's body, with Peretz and Barberman now suspected of murder. The suspects have begun detailing their movements and the sequence of events leading up to Dayan's death, which the police are cross-referencing with collected evidence to reconstruct the final hours of Dayan's life.
According to police suspicions, after abandoning their vehicle near a gas station in Petah Tikva, Peretz and Barberman allegedly led Dayan to a nearby open area where the murder took place. The body was then reportedly concealed before the suspects returned to Dimona. Both were initially arrested due to conflicting statements about Dayan's disappearance and were first suspected of other offenses. However, following the identification of Dayan's body at the National Institute of Forensic Medicine, they were formally charged with murder.
A senior official involved in the investigation told Walla, "In the coming days, we will know exactly what happened in Eldar Dayan's final moments." The investigation is progressing rapidly, with ongoing efforts by YAMAR Sharon to uncover the truth, determine the motive, and solidify the evidentiary basis of the case.
