IDF Launches Targeted Strikes in Southern Lebanon After Hezbollah Violates Ceasefire

On Wednesday afternoon, reports emerged from Lebanon about Israeli military strikes in the village of Al-Mansouri near Tyre. Shortly after, the IDF spokesperson issued an urgent evacuation order in Arabic, accusing Hezbollah of blatantly violating the ceasefire agreement. The IDF confirmed it had begun focused attacks in southern Lebanon in response to Hezbollah's breach.

Lieutenant Colonel Ella Waueh, the IDF spokesperson, warned residents of Al-Mansouri to immediately evacuate their homes and move at least 1,000 meters north into open areas for their safety. She emphasized that the IDF does not intend to harm civilians but will target Hezbollah operatives, infrastructure, and weapons caches. The 91st Division's artillery and air units are conducting strikes south of the Blue Line, aiming to send a clear message. The strikes are expected to continue for several hours.

According to Lebanese sources, about 15 families remaining in Al-Mansouri left following the evacuation warning. Another strike in the nearby town of Tebnine reportedly caused casualties. An Israeli military official stated that Al-Mansouri lies within the IDF-controlled security zone, where ongoing Hezbollah activity endangers Lebanese civilians, prompting the evacuation. The official also noted that Lebanese army forces had set up a checkpoint in the area contrary to prior agreements.

Northern Israeli residents near the border were informed by the Northern Command that explosions would be heard but that there was no change in the security assessment or civilian instructions. These military actions coincided with ongoing negotiations in Rome between Israel and Lebanon, facilitated by the United States, aimed at securing a lasting ceasefire and resolving border disputes. The U.S. State Department reaffirmed its commitment to supporting both governments to ensure lasting security and restore Lebanese sovereignty in the south.

Earlier on Wednesday, the IDF reported that forces from Brigade 300 and the Yahalom unit destroyed a Hezbollah underground tunnel in the village of Sarbine in southern Lebanon. Additionally, Kfir Brigade units uncovered a weapons depot containing launchers and rockets, while Brigade 4 located various arms including Kalashnikov rifles and anti-tank rockets. These operations are part of ongoing efforts to dismantle Hezbollah's military infrastructure in the region.
