IDF Launches Targeted Strikes in Southern Lebanon Following Evacuation Warning

Following an urgent evacuation warning to residents of the southern Lebanese village of Al-Mansouri, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) initiated a series of targeted strikes in the area on Wednesday. The military stated these operations were a direct response to blatant violations by Hezbollah, including recent attacks and threats against Israeli soldiers. The strikes mark a resumption of IDF activity in southern Lebanon after a period of relative calm.

Reports from Lebanon indicate that the strikes in the village of Tabbanein resulted in at least one fatality and nine injuries. A military source explained that Al-Mansouri lies within a security zone controlled by Israeli forces, where ongoing hostile activity endangers Lebanese civilians. The IDF evacuated residents to protect them, noting that the Lebanese army had set up a checkpoint in the area contrary to prior agreements.

The IDF spokesperson emphasized that the strikes respond to Hezbollah's repeated ceasefire breaches, including a recent incident where the group launched an explosive drone at an Israeli engineering vehicle near the Ali Taher ridge. Although no casualties occurred, the attack was considered a serious violation. The IDF warned it would not tolerate terrorist actions against its forces.

Meanwhile, the local council of Kfar Vradim informed residents to expect explosions in the coming hours due to the ongoing strikes in western Lebanon, though no changes to public safety instructions have been issued. Military analyst Noam Amir highlighted that despite political talks with the Lebanese government, Hezbollah continues to rearm and strengthen its presence in southern Lebanon. The Lebanese army faces significant challenges in enforcing control and disarming Hezbollah, which maintains influence over parts of the local military and controls key transit routes. The presence of booby-trapped buildings further limits Lebanese army operations, allowing Hezbollah near-free movement.

Amir concluded that based on current intelligence and operational assessments, the IDF's mission in Lebanon remains incomplete, signaling continued military vigilance in the region.
