During the night between Friday and Saturday, Hezbollah again violated the ceasefire agreement, firing more than 50 projectiles in several separate incidents at IDF forces operating in southern Lebanon. According to the IDF spokesman, these were repeated breaches of the accord, and the military said it would not accept harm to Israeli civilians or its troops.
In response, the IDF struck dozens of Hezbollah terror infrastructures and operatives in southern Lebanon to remove threats. The targets included rocket launchers, weapons depots, and Hezbollah headquarters. The military said more than 50 targets were hit overnight.
The strikes come after a series of serious incidents in recent days. Earlier in the week, four IDF soldiers were killed in southern Lebanon, including Battalion 52 commander Lt. Col. Dor Gadalia Ben Shimon. That incident followed a suspected strike on a tank belonging to the battalion under the command of a Givati Brigade battle team in the area of the village of Tebnit. The day before that, an explosive drone detonated near a Givati force in the al-Saluki and Beaufort area, wounding five soldiers, two of them seriously.
Those events led to a broad wave of Israeli attacks, including strikes on terror infrastructure in the Beqaa region of Lebanon, about 100 kilometers from the border. The IDF said its actions are aimed at facilities that continue to plan and carry out attacks against its forces. Spokesman said, "The IDF is committed to the ceasefire agreement in accordance with the political echelon's directives, and will continue to act to remove any threat to the State of Israel and IDF forces." The military also said it continued operations in southern Lebanon over the weekend, including destroying a loaded launcher ready to fire toward Israel.
