An IDF spokesman said in a media briefing on Thursday that Hezbollah was the side that violated the ceasefire, and that the Israeli military would continue operating in Lebanon as long as necessary. He said forces on the ground have full freedom of action and will not be constrained when responding to threats against IDF soldiers or northern Israeli communities.
According to the statement, since overnight the IDF has struck more than 100 Hezbollah targets and killed dozens of militants. The spokesman said the operation is ongoing and that the military will keep hitting any target it deems necessary in order to remove threats and make the terror group pay a price.
The briefing framed the continued strikes as a response to the ceasefire violation attributed to Hezbollah, and signaled that the campaign in Lebanon is not expected to stop in the immediate term.
