Roy Revivo Refuses to Join Maccabi Tel Aviv Amid Spanish Transfer Dispute

Tensions have escalated between Roy Revivo and Maccabi Tel Aviv following the defender's agreement with a top Spanish league club, as revealed by ynet. Due to this development, Revivo will not join the team's flight today at 16:00 to Batumi for their Europa League match against CSKA Sofia. Initially perceived as a decision by Maccabi, it is now clear that Revivo himself demanded not to participate, frustrated by the conditions set by the Israeli club to finalize the transfer.

Revivo has reportedly agreed to a three-year contract with a Spanish club, likely newly promoted Santander, with other options including Celta Vigo, offering him an annual salary of 550,000 euros. Maccabi Tel Aviv is currently rejecting the Spanish club's offer, which ranges between 2.5 and 3 million euros. Additionally, the Israeli champions demand that Revivo forgo 15 percent of his transfer fee entitlement, approximately 400,000 euros, and also seek a percentage from any future sale of the player.

Revivo, who reached the agreement days ago, is openly frustrated by the delay and reportedly decided to take a firm stance. A teammate noted that Revivo was determined not to miss this opportunity in Spain and kept the club's identity confidential. Amid the crisis, Maccabi trained Shahar Rozen as the left-back replacement. Although the club wants Revivo to travel to Batumi, he informed coach Kenny Miller he will not fly.

The club's reaction to Revivo's unilateral decision remains uncertain, but such a situation is rare in Maccabi's history. Comparatively, in a similar case at Hapoel Be'er Sheva, Kings Kangwa played a crucial match despite ongoing negotiations before his eventual transfer. One close source stated, "Roy's time at Maccabi Tel Aviv is over. He is disappointed from last summer and now with the delay regarding the Spanish club. He will only play in Spain and will not return otherwise." Maccabi Tel Aviv insists they will only release Revivo if their financial demands are met.
