Jerusalem Man Dies Drowning During Family Vacation in Cyprus

A 34-year-old man from Jerusalem tragically drowned while swimming with his family at a beach in Limassol, Cyprus, on Tuesday evening. After he went missing in the water, his family searched for him for about two hours without success. The man’s body was eventually spotted floating in the sea by a passing parasail, prompting local rescue teams to recover him. Despite prolonged resuscitation efforts, the man was pronounced dead at the scene by Cypriot emergency personnel.

Haim Weingarten, Deputy Operations Director of ZAKA, described the incident as a painful tragedy and confirmed that ZAKA is maintaining close contact with the family. The organization is working alongside Israel’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cypriot authorities to facilitate the repatriation of the deceased for burial in Israel as quickly as possible. ZAKA is also assisting the family with all necessary bureaucratic and legal procedures during this difficult time.
