Jerusalem Man Dies Drowning in Cyprus; ZAKA Assists Family with Repatriation

A 34-year-old man from Jerusalem drowned while swimming at a beach in Limassol, Cyprus. The rescue organization ZAKA is working alongside the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs and local Cypriot authorities to assist the family with all necessary procedures to bring the deceased back to Israel for burial.

Chaim Weingarten, ZAKA's Deputy Operations Director, described the incident as a tragic and painful event. The man had gone swimming with family members when he disappeared. His relatives searched for about two hours along the shore and in the water until a passing parasail spotted him floating. Unfortunately, local rescue teams confirmed his death at the scene.

ZAKA remains in close contact with the family and continues coordinating with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and local officials to expedite the repatriation process and support the bereaved family during this difficult time.
