Jerusalem Man Drowns at Limassol Beach in Cyprus, ZAKA Coordinates Repatriation

A 34-year-old man from Jerusalem drowned on Tuesday while swimming at a beach in Limassol, Cyprus. He had entered the sea with his family but disappeared from sight, prompting a two-hour search along the shore and in the water. The victim was eventually spotted floating by a passing paramotor pilot, who alerted local rescue teams. Despite their efforts to save him, the man was pronounced dead at the scene.

ZAKA, an Israeli rescue and recovery organization, is working closely with the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cypriot authorities to facilitate the return of the deceased's body to Israel. The organization is also supporting the family throughout the process. ZAKA's Deputy Operations Director, Chaim Weingarten, described the incident as a "severe and painful tragedy" and emphasized their ongoing communication with the family to ensure a swift burial in Israel.
