The story · English

Kobi Yedid, a 34-year-old Israeli from Jerusalem, drowned on Tuesday at a beach in Limassol, Cyprus. He had gone swimming with his family when he disappeared underwater. After about two hours of searching by his relatives, a parasailor flying overhead spotted him floating in the sea. Local rescue teams retrieved Yedid from the water but pronounced him dead at the scene.

The international unit of ZAKA, an Israeli emergency response organization, is coordinating with the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cypriot authorities to assist the family. They are working to complete the necessary procedures to repatriate Yedid's body to Israel for burial.
