Police Find New Evidence in Eldar Dayan Case as Suspects' Detentions Extended

New evidence has emerged in the Eldar Dayan investigation after police discovered helmets near the Yarkon Junction, which have been sent for laboratory analysis to determine if they were used by Dayan and his two associates before they parted ways. A source familiar with the case told Maariv that while the helmets are unlikely to yield significant findings, they were taken for examination to check for any possible connection.

Omri Peretz, one of the suspects, continues to exercise his right to silence during questioning, complicating the investigation which has largely exhausted leads related to the altercation between the two groups involved. The police are expected to bring Dayan's two friends to the Petah Tikva Magistrate's Court tomorrow to request an extension of their detention before filing formal charges concerning their involvement in the fight.

Regarding their potential role in a hit-and-run incident linked to the case, the police prosecution division will likely file charges separately, but this is not expected to occur at the upcoming hearing. The latest footage shows Eldar Dayan alive and well at a convenience store with his two partners prior to the incident. The investigation continues amid ongoing police efforts to clarify the circumstances surrounding the case.
