Israel Faces Extreme Heatwave with Temperatures Reaching 46 Degrees Celsius

Israel is experiencing a severe heatwave, reaching its peak with dangerously high temperatures across the country. The Meteorological Service reported that central and Jordan Valley areas recorded the highest heat, with temperatures hitting 45.2 degrees Celsius in Gilgal, located in the Jordan Valley. Jerusalem reached 36.1 degrees, while the Judean Lowlands and northern Negev saw temperatures up to 40 degrees. Other regions including the Hula Valley, Beit She'an, the Dead Sea, and Eilat also recorded temperatures exceeding 40 degrees.

The Kinneret area suffered from intense heat as well, with Kfar Nahum reaching 43.5 degrees and Tiberias 42.5 degrees. Despite lower temperatures along the coastal plain, ranging between 30 and 32 degrees due to the Mediterranean's cooling effect, residents faced extreme discomfort from high humidity levels, peaking at 78% in Hadera.

The weather forecast warns of further temperature increases over the next two days, with expected highs of 45 degrees near the Kinneret and up to 46-46.5 degrees in the Jordan Valley. Humidity is expected to drop sharply inland, leading to very dry conditions, with Jerusalem predicted to experience only 10% humidity on Monday, compared to the usual 30-40% during typical summer days.
