Trump Announces Historic Agreement to Fully Disarm Hamas in Gaza Strip

US President Donald Trump announced on Thursday night that the Peace Council has reached a historic agreement for the complete disarmament of Hamas and all other armed groups in the Gaza Strip. Trump described the deal as a major step toward lasting peace and security, stating it will enable Gaza to be governed by a new Palestinian government cooperating closely with the Peace Council to assist the Palestinian people.

Trump emphasized that Israel will receive the security it deserves, with Gaza no longer serving as a base for terrorist attacks. He called the agreement a key milestone in implementing his 20-point plan, explaining that the disarmament will be carried out in an orderly, phased manner. Upon completion, Israeli Defense Forces will withdraw swiftly from Gaza, and an international stabilization force alongside a new Palestinian police will assume responsibility for Gaza’s security.

Reflecting on the past year’s conflict, humanitarian crisis, and hostage situations, Trump highlighted the historic progress made but acknowledged that much work remains. He thanked mediators Egypt, Qatar, and Turkey for their crucial efforts, as well as his team for their tireless work enabling this breakthrough. Trump vowed that the threat emerging from Gaza on October 7 will not be allowed to reoccur and reiterated that Gaza will finally be governed by a new Palestinian government serving its people.

Concurrently, a draft implementation document of the Sharm el-Sheikh agreement between Israel and Hamas was reported by Al-Mayadeen. The draft, approved by Hamas and Palestinian factions, outlines a gradual, phased process for collecting and storing weapons in Gaza alongside a phased Israeli withdrawal from areas held by the IDF. A detailed timetable for the disarmament process is expected within 14 days, with the timeline adjustable by the International Peace Committee. Heavy weapons collection will begin after remaining commitments under the Sharm el-Sheikh protocol are fulfilled.
