Peace Council Outlines Roadmap to Disarm Hamas in Gaza Strip

The "Peace Council" for Gaza has released a detailed roadmap aimed at disarming Hamas and ending its rule in the Gaza Strip. The plan, announced following significant progress reported in talks between Israel, Hamas, and mediators, calls for the dismantling of all Hamas weaponry, including heavy and light arms, the destruction of tunnels, weapons caches, and manufacturing facilities. The council emphasized that Hamas will have no governing role in Gaza, neither openly nor covertly, after the process is complete. Civil authority will be transferred to the Gaza Management Committee under the principle of "one authority, one law, one weapon."

The roadmap is designed to be implemented gradually, with reciprocal steps from each side ensuring compliance. Israeli and Gaza sources involved in the negotiations confirmed substantial agreements on weapons handover and storage under an agreed mechanism, as well as on civilian administration management. There is speculation that an official announcement could be made soon, contingent on a full Israeli withdrawal and cessation of targeted killings.

Israeli officials acknowledge ongoing talks and view the direction positively but stress that no agreement has yet been signed. Any final deal is expected to include strict monitoring mechanisms, full disclosure of tunnel locations, and comprehensive disarmament of Hamas, with detailed enforcement to prevent any circumvention of the terms.
