Indictment Filed Against Suspect in Rabbi Amos Gueta Murder in Netanya

About a month after the shocking murder of Rabbi Amos Gueta in Netanya, an indictment was filed against the suspect on Thursday. The investigation revealed that the suspect arrived at the rabbi's home early in the morning, was granted permission to enter his room, and stabbed him four times while he was lying in bed. The incident occurred on July 1. Police and emergency teams rushed to the scene, but Rabbi Gueta was pronounced dead at Laniado Hospital. The rabbi's assistant, who tried to subdue the attacker, sustained minor injuries to his hand during the struggle.

The suspect fled immediately after the stabbing but was quickly located and arrested by detectives from the Netanya station and the Sharon district central unit. The knife believed to have been used in the murder was recovered at the scene. During the investigation, the suspect initially tried to deceive investigators by pretending to be mute but later confessed to the killing, stating that he believed Rabbi Gueta was a "false messiah." A psychiatric evaluation determined the suspect is fit to stand trial.

Following a thorough investigation involving interrogation, witness testimonies, and forensic evidence collection, the Central District Prosecutor's Office is set to submit an indictment charging the suspect with murder under aggravating circumstances and additional offenses.
