Suspect in Netanya Rabbi's Murder Also Tried to Stab Synagogue Official, Mayor Mourns
The suspect in the murder of 75-year-old Rabbi Amos Guetta in Netanya also attempted to stab the synagogue's gabbai (warden). Rabbi Guetta was killed while in his bed. This incident echoes a previous murder in the same synagogue in 2009, when David Menishev was killed by another student. Netanya Mayor Avi Salama eulogized Rabbi Guetta, stating, "For many years, he illuminated the path for thousands of residents, brought hearts together, strengthened souls, and was a source of advice, blessing, and salvation for thousands of families in Israel and worldwide."
