Rabbi Stabbed to Death in Netanya Synagogue, Police Hunt Known Suspect

A well-known rabbi in Netanya was fatally stabbed early Wednesday morning by an unidentified assailant who entered the synagogue. Emergency responders rushed the man, in his 70s, to Laniado Hospital in critical condition, but doctors declared him dead shortly after arrival. The police confirmed that officers from the Sharon district have launched an investigation into the violent incident at the yeshiva, collecting evidence and conducting searches for the suspect, who is known to law enforcement.

Magen David Adom paramedics reported receiving the emergency call at 5:45 a.m. on Shimon Bar Yochai Street in Netanya. Paramedics found the victim unconscious with severe penetrating wounds and performed prolonged resuscitation efforts before transporting him to the hospital. According to reports from Kan 11, the suspect is a mentally unstable individual from the rabbi’s own community who demanded to pray alongside him. A dispute escalated inside the synagogue, culminating in the suspect stabbing the rabbi four times.

In related criminal violence, a 24-year-old Arab man was shot dead in Shfaram, and a 21-year-old from Basmat Tivon was fatally shot in his car at a shopping center parking lot near Yagur. Police are investigating these shootings as likely criminal acts and are searching for suspects in both cases.
