Prominent Netanya Rabbi Fatally Stabbed by Devotee at Synagogue
A well-known rabbi in his 70s from Netanya was fatally stabbed on Wednesday morning by one of his followers who came to the synagogue where the rabbi was praying. Emergency medical teams arrived at the scene and provided initial treatment before rushing him to Laniado Hospital in Netanya, where doctors fought to save his life but ultimately declared him dead. The police launched an investigation and determined the incident was criminal in nature. Preliminary findings indicate that the assailant, believed to be mentally unstable, was one of the rabbi's own devotees. Authorities have initiated a manhunt for the suspect. Paramedics Maor Brantz and Yonatan Yankelvich described the victim as unconscious, without pulse or breathing, and suffering from severe penetrating wounds. They performed prolonged resuscitation efforts while transporting him to the hospital in critical condition.
