Suspect Neutralized After Stabbing Attempt on Israeli Police Officer in Lod Following Rabbi's Murder in Netanya

A stabbing attempt targeting a Border Police officer occurred Wednesday in Lod, Israel. Police forces arrived at the scene and neutralized the suspect by gunfire without any injuries to officers. Earlier the same morning, Rabbi Amos Guetta, a well-known figure in Netanya, was fatally stabbed in his home shortly after morning prayers around 5:40 a.m. Emergency medical teams transported him to the hospital in critical condition, where he was pronounced dead. Following the murder, police launched an extensive manhunt for the suspect.

After several hours, detectives from the Netanya station and officers from the Sharon Crime Fighting Unit apprehended a man in his twenties, a resident of Netanya, in the city center. The suspect, who reportedly frequented the rabbi's yeshiva, was taken into custody on suspicion of murder. Initial investigations suggest the suspect entered the rabbi's home, stabbed him, and fled before being captured.
