Indictment Filed Against Suspect in Murder of Rabbi Amos Guetta in Netanya

An indictment is set to be filed today against a 36-year-old suspect accused of murdering Rabbi Amos Guetta in Netanya. On July 1, 2026, at 5:44 a.m., Israeli police received a report of a stabbing at the rabbi's home. Emergency teams arrived quickly, and the rabbi was taken to Laniado Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The investigation by the Sharon District Unit of the Central District Police revealed that the suspect gained entry to the rabbi's home under the pretense of praying. After receiving permission to enter the rabbi's room, he drew a knife and stabbed Rabbi Guetta four times while he was in bed. The rabbi's assistant was lightly injured while trying to restrain the attacker. The suspect fled but was soon located and arrested following a rapid police pursuit. The murder weapon was recovered at the scene.

Police conducted an intensive and complex investigation, including interrogation techniques, forensic evidence collection, and witness testimonies. The suspect confessed to the killing, and substantial evidence was gathered to support the charges. The Central District Prosecutor's Office will charge the suspect with murder under aggravating circumstances and additional offenses.
