Tomer Ginat Signs Four-Year Extension with Hapoel Tel Aviv for $1.2 Million Per Season

Tomer Ginat officially extended his contract with Hapoel Tel Aviv on July 27, 2026, committing to four more years with the club. Despite interest from other Israeli teams, including Hapoel Jerusalem, and European clubs, Ginat chose to remain with the Tel Aviv team, where he is considered a key Israeli player under coach Dimitris Itoudis. The new contract reportedly pays Ginat at least $1.2 million per season, including bonuses for championships and European achievements, making it one of the highest salaries ever for an Israeli basketball player at Hapoel Tel Aviv. Only Yam Madar, who recently transferred from Hapoel Tel Aviv to Maccabi Tel Aviv, earned more, with $1.9 million last season and a $2 million annual contract for three years with Maccabi.

During the national team break, coach Itoudis emphasized Ginat's importance to the club, while club official Ofer Yanai led the contract negotiations. Ginat, 31 years old and 2.02 meters tall, posted strong stats last season in the Israeli Premier League, averaging 10.1 points, 6.4 rebounds, and 1.9 assists in under 22 minutes per game. In the EuroLeague, he averaged 3.3 points and 1.9 rebounds in about 10 minutes per game.
