Fire Breaks Out at Strauss and Tapogen Factories in Sderot, Heavy Smoke Covers Area
A fire erupted on Monday morning at two factories, Strauss and Tapogen, located in the Sha'ar HaNegev industrial zone in Sderot. Thick smoke was seen rising from the area, prompting firefighters to rush to the scene to contain the blaze and prevent it from spreading to nearby buildings in the densely packed industrial area.
Fire and Rescue teams from the Southern District were deployed in large numbers, with additional forces en route to assist in the complex firefighting efforts. So far, no injuries have been reported. The municipality of Sderot issued a statement urging residents of the nearby Music neighborhood to remain indoors and keep windows closed due to concerns about potential hazardous material leaks from the burning factories.
Authorities continue to work to control the fire and will provide updates as necessary. Sderot, located near the Gaza Strip border, has experienced numerous security incidents over the years, adding to the urgency of managing this emergency effectively.
