Large Fire and Ammonia Leak Prompt Evacuation in Sderot Industrial Zone

A major fire broke out on July 27, 2026, in the industrial area of Sderot, involving factories operated by Strauss and Tapugen. Firefighters arrived to find flames affecting two factories, and during their operations, an ammonia leak was detected from one of the facilities. As a result, authorities ordered the evacuation of all personnel and visitors from the industrial zone to ensure safety.

Thirteen firefighting teams are actively working at the scene, while emergency medical services are treating three individuals with minor injuries, one due to smoke inhalation and two from physical trauma. Police and rescue teams are also on site, securing and isolating the area to prevent further risks. The police have urged the public to avoid the vicinity to reduce unnecessary danger and allow emergency responders to operate effectively.
