Firefighters Struggle to Control Blaze in Sderot Industrial Zone, Major Roads Closed

A large fire broke out in the industrial area of Sderot, specifically in the Strauss and Tapugan factory complexes, on Monday. Firefighting teams have yet to gain control over the flames, prompting ongoing emergency coordination under the leadership of the Beersheba station commander. Authorities have closed key transportation routes, including Highway 232 east-west and the entrance to Sderot from Highway 34 in both directions, to ensure public safety.

Israel Railways temporarily suspended service at the Sderot station, halting passenger boarding and disembarking, while train operations at other stations in the western Negev and southern regions continue as usual. Residents of the nearby Music neighborhood were instructed to stay indoors and close windows until the threat diminished. Initial concerns about an ammonia leak were later dismissed. No casualties have been reported so far.
