Maccabi Tel Aviv Officially Signs Slovenian Striker Aster Sokler

On Sunday evening, Maccabi Tel Aviv officially signed 27-year-old Slovenian striker Aster Sokler to a two-year contract with an option for an additional two years. Sokler, who arrived in Israel the previous night and passed his medical tests, will earn approximately 350,000 euros in his first season. The club paid around one million euros to Red Star Belgrade for the transfer after weeks of negotiations. Sokler becomes Maccabi's second new signing this season, following Dan Glazer.

Sokler is expected to make his debut in the third qualifying round of the UEFA Europa League after Maccabi's 5-0 first-leg victory over Sheriff Tiraspol in Moldova. He was assigned the number 9 jersey and expressed pride in joining a club with a rich history and high ambitions. He stated his commitment to scoring goals, winning titles, and making the fans proud.

Last season, Sokler scored 16 goals for Radnički Niš, helping the team remain in Serbia's top division. He also made his debut for the Slovenian national team last month as a substitute in a friendly against Cyprus. Serbian media reported that Maccabi Tel Aviv outcompeted several clubs, including Red Star Belgrade, Partizan Belgrade, Vojvodina, and Malmö, to secure Sokler's signing.
