Maccabi Tel Aviv Signs Slovenian Striker Aster Sukler Amid Fan Discontent Over Transfer Fee

Aster Sukler, who played just one season at Serbian club Radnički Kragujevac, has been sold to Maccabi Tel Aviv for around one million euros. Sukler joined Radnički last summer from Aberdeen for 225,000 euros and became the club's most expensive signing. Despite the decent income, fans expressed frustration over the relatively low transfer fee, especially given Sukler's status as the team's leading scorer. Supporters compared the fee unfavorably to previous sales, such as Bogdan Mirković's 1.5 million euro transfer to Raków and Milan Aleksić's 3.5 million euro move to Sunderland. Fans argued that Sukler, at 27 and the club's best player, deserved a higher price.

In contrast, Serbian media praised Radnički's transfer strategy, highlighting their approach of acquiring promising players early, providing ideal development conditions, and eventually achieving both sporting and financial success. Sukler exemplifies this model, having risen from an unknown player to a national team member, boosting his market value significantly.

During his time at Radnički, Sukler scored 15 goals and provided two assists, helping the club remain in Serbia's top league. His strong performances earned him a call-up to the Slovenian national team, where he debuted in a friendly against Cyprus. Upon signing a two-year contract with Maccabi Tel Aviv, with an option for two more years, Sukler expressed pride in joining a club with a rich history and high ambitions.
