Maccabi Tel Aviv Nears Signing Slovenian Striker Aster Sokler from Radnicki
Negotiations between Radnicki and Maccabi Tel Aviv for the transfer of Slovenian striker Aster Sokler are in advanced stages, with the Israeli club prepared to pay around one million euros for the experienced forward. According to reports from Serbia, only final details remain before the deal becomes official.
Sokler joined Radnicki from Aberdeen for 225,000 euros and quickly proved his value by scoring 16 goals last season, playing a key role in helping the Serbian club avoid relegation. His impressive performance earned him a call-up to the Slovenian national team by coach Boštjan Cesar, with Sokler making his senior debut in a friendly against Cyprus in June.
Recently, Sokler did not participate in Radnicki’s friendly match against Buducnost Podgorica, opting for individual training as he prepares to leave the club. While several teams showed interest in the striker, Maccabi Tel Aviv has been the most serious suitor, aiming to finalize the transfer this summer.
If completed at the reported fee, Radnicki will make a significant profit compared to their initial investment. Meanwhile, Radnicki can take comfort in the gradual return to form of Uroš Sremčević, who scored his first goal for the club after joining on loan from Red Star Belgrade. Sokler is regarded as one of the top forwards in the Serbian league last season and is expected to take a step forward in his career by competing on a larger international stage with Maccabi Tel Aviv.
