Maccabi Tel Aviv Nears Signing Slovenian Striker Aster Sokler This Week

Following their impressive victory over Hapoel Be'er Sheva in the Champion of Champions match, Maccabi Tel Aviv is advancing preparations for the 2026/27 season. The club has made significant progress in acquiring Slovenian striker Aster Sokler, a transfer that had previously seemed stalled. Maccabi Tel Aviv is expected to pay around one million euros for Sokler, who is valued at approximately 1.5 million euros according to Transfermarkt. The deal is anticipated to be finalized within the coming week.

Sokler had a challenging season with his current club, Radnički Niš of Serbia, but personally performed well, scoring 15 league goals in 29 appearances and playing a key role in helping the team avoid relegation. He began his career in Slovenia and was sold to Aberdeen in Scotland in 2023 for 350,000 euros. After two seasons in Scotland, where he scored 12 goals in 72 matches, he was loaned to Radnički Niš and later purchased by them for 225,000 euros.

Meanwhile, Maccabi Tel Aviv has not yet made progress in negotiations with Amir Sehiti, with gaps remaining between the parties. As a result, the club has started exploring alternative candidates for the right-wing position to strengthen their squad ahead of the new season.
