Mobileye Founder Amnon Shashua Steps Down as CEO, Becomes Chairman

Amnon Shashua, the founder of Mobileye, announced his resignation as CEO after leading the company for 27 years. Mobileye, a global leader in autonomous driving technology, disclosed the news in a filing to Nasdaq on July 23, 2026. The board will conduct a comprehensive search for a new CEO with the help of an external recruitment firm, but no candidates have been named yet. Shashua will remain on the board and will assume the role of chairman once the new CEO is appointed. In this new position, he plans to focus on long-term technological trends, including humanoid robotics, an area Mobileye recently entered through its acquisition of Manti Robotics.

Mobileye's board chairman, Spero Yeboah-Amenkwa, expressed confidence in the company’s strategy, management team, and technology platform, emphasizing that the leadership transition aims to select a leader to guide Mobileye into its next growth phase. Shashua described Mobileye as his "life’s work" over nearly three decades and committed to continuing his contributions as chairman. Intel, which owns approximately 77% of Mobileye’s shares, praised Shashua’s leadership and expressed trust in the company’s future under new management. Founded in 1999, Mobileye was acquired by Intel in 2017 and later returned to public trading as an independent company in 2022. Its computer vision technology is currently installed in over 250 million vehicles worldwide.
