Israel Faces Intensifying Heatwave Through Thursday Before Cooling on Friday

Israel is experiencing a heatwave with above-average temperatures and dry conditions in the mountains and inland areas, while the coastal plain remains cooler and more humid. On Tuesday, after morning clouds clear, skies will be mostly clear with a slight temperature drop. Nighttime will be partly cloudy. Wednesday will see a slight warming, especially in the mountains and inland, with continued dryness and increased heat stress. Thursday will bring further temperature rises, reaching very hot to scorching levels in the mountains and inland, while the coastal plain stays mild but humid, intensifying heat discomfort.

Friday is expected to bring relief from the heatwave, with cooler temperatures returning to seasonal norms and pleasant weather conditions. Temperature forecasts for Tuesday include highs ranging from 30 to 41 degrees Celsius in cities such as Jerusalem (21-31°C), Tel Aviv (24-31°C), and Eilat (30-41°C).

Monday marked the hottest day in Israel since last August, with a record 44.7°C measured at Sedom near the Dead Sea, breaking the previous high of 44.3°C recorded just the day before. Temperatures above 40°C were widespread in southern regions including the Dead Sea area, Arava, and Eilat. Coastal areas experienced high humidity levels, reaching 74-75% in Ashkelon, Nahariya, and Tel Aviv, where temperatures hit 30°C, creating significant heat stress in the coastal plain and lowlands.
