Israel Records Hottest Day in a Year with Temperatures Surpassing 44°C

Israel experienced its hottest day in the past year on Monday, with extreme temperatures primarily in the southern regions and valleys. The Meteorological Service officially reported that temperatures exceeded 40 degrees Celsius across the southern Dead Sea area, the Arava, and Eilat. The highest temperature was recorded at the Sodom measurement station, reaching an intense 44.7 degrees Celsius around midday. This marks the highest official temperature since the historic heatwave in August last year (August 15, 2023).

Looking ahead, meteorologists forecast only a slight and brief cooling over the next two days across the country. However, warming trends are expected to resume strongly by Thursday. By the end of the week, temperatures will again be above seasonal averages, especially along the coastal strip where heavy humidity will cause significant heat stress.
