Extreme Heat Warnings Issued for Eastern and Southern Israel Ahead of Weekend Rise

Israel is experiencing unusually high temperatures, with a slight cooling trend in some regions but extreme heat warnings in the east and south. On Monday, temperatures dropped slightly mainly in the mountains and inland areas, while coastal regions remained cooler. The Israel Meteorological Service issued a red alert for extreme heat in the Beit She'an Valley, Sea of Galilee Basin, Jordan Valley, southern Judean Desert, Dead Sea area, and northern Arava. Yellow alerts were declared for heat stress in parts of the Upper and Lower Galilee, Menashe Heights, northern and central coastal plains, the Shfela region, northern Samaria, and various parts of the Negev including the Eilat mountains.

Tuesday will see clearer skies after morning clouds dissipate, with a further slight temperature decrease but still warmer than usual in the mountains and inland areas, and mild conditions along the coast. By Wednesday, temperatures are expected to rise again, especially in the mountains and inland, with heat intensity increasing. Forecasted highs include 32°C in Jerusalem, 31°C in Tel Aviv, 36°C in Beersheba, 30°C in Haifa, 37°C in Tiberias, 32°C in Safed, and 39°C in Eilat.

Residents are advised to prepare for the intensifying heatwave expected to peak towards the weekend, with precautions recommended in the most affected areas to mitigate heat-related health risks.
