Deadliest Heatwave in a Year Hits Dead Sea Region with 44.7°C Recorded

The Israeli Meteorological Service reported that today marked the hottest day in the past year, with temperatures exceeding 40 degrees Celsius across the southern Dead Sea area, the Arava region, and up to Eilat. The highest temperature was recorded at the Sedom station near the Dead Sea, reaching 44.7 degrees Celsius around midday. This temperature is the highest measured in Israel since the heatwave in August of the previous year. The meteorological service forecasted a slight temperature drop over the next two days, followed by another rise on Thursday. The upcoming heat will be unusually high for the season, accompanied by very humid conditions along the coastal strip, resulting in intense heat stress.
