Pregnant Woman Dies in Ashdod Car Crash, Premature Baby in Critical Condition
A tragic car accident occurred Wednesday morning on the road to Skov in Ashdod involving two vehicles. A 35-year-old pregnant woman was critically injured and rushed to Assuta Ashdod Hospital where she was pronounced dead despite resuscitation efforts. She was in an advanced stage of pregnancy.
Medical teams performed an emergency cesarean section upon her arrival to save the premature baby girl. The infant was delivered but required resuscitation and remains hospitalized in the neonatal intensive care unit in serious condition. Four other individuals involved in the crash sustained minor injuries.
Rescue forces provided immediate treatment at the scene, and volunteers from ZAKA's Lachish region are managing the site, ensuring respect for the deceased and completing necessary procedures. Authorities have not released further details about the victims' identities, their current conditions, or the cause of the accident.
The incident ended with the loss of the young woman, while her newborn continues to fight for life in the hospital. The four other injured parties are reported to be in stable condition.
