Pregnant Woman Dies in Ashdod Car Crash, Baby Rescued in Critical Condition
A fatal car accident occurred on Wednesday near Ashdod port involving two vehicles, resulting in the death of a pregnant woman in advanced stages of pregnancy. The woman was rushed to Assuta Ashdod Hospital in critical condition with multiple injuries. Upon arrival, doctors performed an emergency cesarean section to deliver the baby girl, who was immediately resuscitated and transferred to the neonatal intensive care unit in serious condition.
Despite prolonged medical efforts to save the mother, hospital staff declared her dead. In addition to the pregnant woman, a 25-year-old man also died in a separate road accident on Route 90. Four other individuals sustained minor injuries in the Ashdod crash and were treated at Assuta Hospital.
Police from the Ashdod station and traffic accident investigators from the Lachish district arrived at the scene to investigate the circumstances surrounding the collision. The incident highlights ongoing concerns about road safety in the region.
