Fire at Popular Bangkok Bar Kills At Least 27 People
A fire broke out shortly before midnight on Saturday at the Rong Beer Na Lat Phrao bar-restaurant, a popular nightlife venue in the Chatuchak district of Bangkok, Thailand. According to local media reports, at least 27 people died in the blaze. Many patrons tried to escape the fire and smoke by hiding in the restrooms, where most of the victims were found. Firefighters arrived to find the building engulfed in thick smoke and flames. Initially, one burn victim was rescued, but it soon became clear that dozens were still trapped inside. Video footage from the scene showed victims lying on the street outside while rescue teams performed CPR. Firefighters managed to control the fire within about 35 minutes using three water hoses. Authorities are currently investigating the cause of the fire.
