IDF Destroys Extensive Underground Terror Network in Majdal Zoun Near Israel Border

In a recent complex operation, Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) from Brigade 551 and the Engineering Unit (Yahalom), under the command of Division 91, uncovered and destroyed a fortified underground terror infrastructure in the village of Majdal Zoun, located within the security zone near Israel's northern border. The operation aimed to eliminate immediate threats to Israeli civilians and revealed that the village had been transformed into a well-prepared terror fortress rather than a regular residential area.

The IDF discovered extensive underground tunnels reaching depths of approximately 20 meters, including living quarters equipped for prolonged militant activity. Among the most alarming findings were three rocket launch shafts aimed directly at Israeli territory, similar to recent discoveries in southern Lebanon targeting Israel. The total length of the destroyed tunnel routes now exceeds 200 meters.

Additionally, the forces found large caches of weapons within the village, including mortars, rocket-propelled grenade (RPG) launchers, and rockets intended for attacks against Israeli forces and civilians. During the week-long operation, the IDF also engaged and neutralized an armed militant near one of the tunnel routes, preventing a potential threat.

The IDF continues its efforts to dismantle terror infrastructures in the area as part of a broader campaign to secure Israeli sovereignty and protect its citizens, with similar operations ongoing in the Gaza Strip and southern Lebanon. The operation highlights the long-term and sophisticated planning by terror organizations to threaten Israel's security from underground networks.
