IDF Captain Eliav Haim Tzapalamus Killed in Vehicle Accident in Southern Lebanon

Captain Eliav Haim Tzapalamus, 21, from Haifa, was buried on Friday at the city's military cemetery. He died the previous day during an Israel Defense Forces (IDF) operation in southern Lebanon when a military Hummer vehicle overturned in the Litani region. Tzapalamus, a combat officer in the 603rd Battalion of the 7th Brigade, was killed in the incident, which also left three other soldiers with minor injuries. During the funeral, his girlfriend, Inbar, delivered an emotional eulogy. "My Eliav, my love, my happiness, how can one even deliver your eulogy? I am so angry and, at the same time, so grateful for our five years together," she said, overcome with emotion. She recalled his promise to be careful and questioned why he didn't return, noting his upcoming post change. "My God, why did you take him from me?" she asked, lamenting their interrupted future and dreams. She thanked him for teaching her to love, describing their relationship as "like in movies and stories," and expressed that "God, up there, simply mocked us, because it was obvious they would take the best of the best from us." The IDF announced the officer's death on Thursday, stating it occurred during operational activity in southern Lebanon. The exact circumstances of the vehicle rollover were not detailed.
