Captain Eliab Haim Tzaphlamos, who fell in an operational accident in the Litani area of southern Lebanon, was laid to rest on Friday at the military cemetery in Haifa. Hundreds attended his funeral, with close friends delivering tearful eulogies. "What a person you were, what a friend, what an amazing journey we had with you. So many ups and downs. We learned so much from you. I read this and I have no words. I am trembling all over," one friend said. "I have no thoughts. I remember everything, the annual trips, the day you met Inbari, the training together for the army. You told me how hard it was for you to write the letter to the family before your entry into Gaza."

His name was released for publication on Thursday, identifying him as a combat officer in Battalion 603 of the 7th Armored Brigade. The accident occurred in the Litani River region of southern Lebanon. During the incident, four additional soldiers sustained light injuries and were evacuated for medical treatment to Rambam Hospital in Haifa.

Shortly thereafter, the IDF reported another operational accident in southern Lebanon where two soldiers were lightly injured, apparently due to improper use of ammunition.
