Detroit Lions cornerback Terrion Arnold was arrested overnight in Florida and accused of a string of serious crimes, including kidnapping and armed robbery. According to the Hillsborough County State Attorney’s Office, Arnold turned himself in and was taken into custody after a months-long investigation.
Prosecutors say Arnold was the main planner and coordinator of an violent robbery on February 4 in Tampa. Three men were beaten with a gun, held at gunpoint and robbed inside an apartment they had been lured to enter. Police had already arrested six other suspects in the case, and investigators now say Arnold directed the others and handled the planning behind the scenes.
The case began after Arnold and friends reported that property worth more than $250,000 had been stolen from an Airbnb they rented in the Largo area. Arnold suspected two of the three victims were involved, but investigators later concluded they had no connection to the theft. Prosecutors say Arnold then organized a revenge attack only hours after filing the police complaint.
He has been charged with four counts of kidnapping and four counts of armed robbery, offenses that can carry life in prison. Prosecutors said they will ask the court to keep him detained until trial. Arnold’s representatives denied all allegations, saying he “absolutely denies any involvement” and that there is no reliable evidence tying him to the incident. They said the prosecution is relying mainly on convicted offenders seeking reduced sentences. The Detroit Lions said they are aware of the situation but would not comment further. Arnold, who was picked 24th in the 2024 draft and recently finished his rookie NFL season, is expected to appear in court within the next day.
